Buddy's Story

Buddy

Thank you for your donation. Your generosity is helping us make the difference in many dogs’ and cats’ lives. Buddy is a four-year-old lab and golden mix. Buddy was found wandering in the mountains. He was emaciated, had bleeding paws, was dirty and near death.

The person who found him took him home and began caring for him. He was hungry and thirsty and suffered from hourly bouts of bloody diarrhea. Even in his poor health and weak status, Buddy was loving and gentle. He was comfortable with her dogs and cats. It was clear someone had spent time with him as he knew many behaviors, was comfortable and well-behaved in her house and house trained to potty outdoors. She posted him on many sites and took him to the vet to check for a chip. Her efforts proved futile and she reached out to Glendale Humane for help in finding him a home.

We found Buddy a wonderful foster home where he has adults home all day and has canine friends to welcome him. We took him to our vet. Buddy had never met us but jumped in the car and behaved like a gentleman on his ride to the vet. Our vet did extensive bloodwork on Buddy and because Buddy has a hard lump on his shoulder x-rayed him to see if the bone was involved. Buddy’s results came back with liver damage that we hope to clear up with diet and a healthy weight. His x-ray revealed the bone is not involved but our vet recommends that Buddy have the lump removed and biopsied once he is stable.

Buddy is the perfect dog. He has shown the foster family love and appreciation for taking him in. He is affectionate and calm. This weekend he will be taking his first vacation to the beach with the family. He will be riding in the RV and playing in the water. We are so pleased to be able to help Buddy. We could not do this without your donation. Buddy is a happy boy, comforted by a family who gives generously of their time and love.

Together with your help, we make a good team.
