Boy's Story

Boy

Thank you for your donation. Your generosity is helping us make the difference in many dogs’ and cats’ lives. Pictured below is Boy. He is a nine-year-old lab and pitmix. Boy was overweight and limping. He was lethargic and his family watched as he seemed to be slipping away.

A local vet reached out to us and asked for assistance in diagnostics and a treatment plan for this handsome and loyal friend. They put us in touch with the family. Boy’s dad speaks limited English and asked that his daughter, Evelyn, explain his situation.

Evelyn’s mom passed away leaving the care and financial responsibility of her three dogs to Evelyn’s dad. Though he was pleased to take on their care, he was unable to pay for medical bills for Boy. Her dad has worked the same job for twenty years. He makes minimum wage and works overtime every week to make ends meet.

We agreed and were most pleased to help. Boy was given fluids and observed in the hospital for several days. He went home with a new diet to lessen the load on his bones and perhaps help with the limp. As of the last communication he was at a good weight and testing was still being done to identify some of his medical issues.

He is a loving and happy dog and brings laughter and life into his home. We were pleased to help the family and especially Boy.

Together with your help, we make a good team.
